at the International Games 2017
Windsor Essex Swim Team is a multi-ethnical sport organization with many members proudly representing their distinct heritages in competitions around the world. This year 7 WEST swimmers very successfully competed at the International Games.
- Michelle Gajewski, Karolina, Klaudia and Matt Konior won medals at every race in  Torun, Poland at the Polonia Games in August;
- Maddy Lavoie won 8 Gold Medals at the Indigenous Games at Toronto in July;
- Kylie Pazner and Mila Tchernenko swam very fast and won medals in Miami, Florida at Maccabi Games in August.
We are PROUD of YOU.
WEST is the BEST !

Kylie Masse made a history on July 25,2017
She broke the world record in 100-metre backstroke (Long Course) at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, becoming the first-ever female Canadian swimmer to win a world title.( Click here  / Wilkipedia )

In the past 29 years (from May 1988) only two Canadian swimmers broke Long Course World Records:
Amanda Reason (WEST swimmer of the year 2008)
on July 8, 2009 set WORLD Record in 50 breast.
Kylie Masse (WEST swimmer of the year 2011-2014)
on July 25, 2017 set WORLD Record in 100 back.

Windsor Sprint Meet  Congratulations to Julia Marcuzzi for the first time qualified for Canadian Junior Nationals on July 26 - 31, 2017 in Toronto.  Three more swimmers qualified and total of 68 WEST swimmers will compete at Western Ontario Swimming Association Championships. On May 5 - 7, 2017  WEST hosted the 4th annual Amanda Reason Invitational meet. This meet attracted 711 competitors from 23 teams from Canada and USA. This great event was made possible through the hard work of over 120 volunteers!

Special thanks need to go out to Dina Ozols who acted as meet manager.

Great job by  food services !

 Credit goes out to Jackie Parker, Mei Ouyang, Brian , Charmaine Yu, Julia Bujak, Kristyn Sexsmith and Shawn Taylor who handled technical logistics, and Dave Denyer who helped coordinate the senior officials at the meet.

For those who volunteered at the meet for the first time, we hope you enjoyed your time on deck and please know that you played an important role in making our meet a big success.

     Congratulations to WEST swimmers Judy Autterson, Ljube Graovac, Lucie Lombardo, Andrei Semenov and Julia Smith with great results at World Masters Games// the biggest participatory multi-sport event in the World, April 21 - 30, 2017, Auckland, New Zealand. More than 28,000 athletes from 106 countries competed in 28 sports// at Olympic Games 2016 in Rio there were 11,000 athletes.

      WEST swimmers won total of 4 medals: Julia - 2 SILVER in 100 and 200 breast, Andrei - SILVER in 50 fly, Ljube - BRONZE in 50 breast !

 Two  WEST swimmers are going to compete at FINA World Championships 2017 in Budapest,Hungary.
At Canadian Trials in Victoria, BC Kylie Masse posted a 58.21 sec in the 100 back for the fastest textile time ever, a new Canadian and Americas Record, and the #3 swim of all-time.
Ovidiu Ognean will race for medals in all breaststroke events in Masters division.
